Why do I need to complete a VCS?
The VCS is our Verification of Childhood Symptoms form. It’s part of our onboarding process and is required for PBS-subsidised ADHD medication.
Why it matters
The Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) requires evidence that ADHD symptoms were present in childhood in order to be eligible for a PBS subsidy. Without this, medication can still be prescribed, but you’ll pay full private cost with no PBS subsidy.
What to do
To complete your VCS, log into your Kantoko account and go to Assessments. You should see the VCS form under the 'External' category.
Then, you can invite someone by email to complete the form. It's required that this person has known you since before the age of 13.
If they don't receive it, ask them to check their spam or junk.
If you can’t get someone to complete the VCS
We understand that not everyone can have a VCS completed by someone who knew them before the age of 13. If that's the case for you, you can submit alternative evidence instead. This includes:
- School reports noting attention or behavioural issues
- Childhood psychological or educational assessments
- A statement from a sibling, extended family member, or close friend who knew you as a child
- Old medical records referencing ADHD-related concerns
