To get started with Kantoko, there are 3 onboarding steps you'll need to take. Once you're ready, you can contact our support team by email to schedule your initial appointment.
Please note that completing these steps does not guarantee acceptance as a Kantoko patient. All information is reviewed by our clinical team to ensure we can safely and appropriately provide care as a telehealth-first ADHD service.
Step 1: Complete your profile
You'll need to make sure your profile is completed, which you can do by logging into your account and updating your settings: https://app.kantoko.com.au/settings/.
Please make sure you provide your:
- Address - please provide your most current address, as your state regulations may affect how we coordinate your care.
-
Medicare Details - we require all patients to provide valid Medicare details.
Step 2: Complete Assessments
We also need you to complete additional assessments for us to verify Kantoko can provide the right care for you, assist with an assessment and also provide some additional information for your ADHD doctor.
Self-Assessments
You will need to complete a few online self-assessments, which you can find here. Your Clinician will discuss these with you in your initial appointment.
External Assessments
Please make sure these external assessments are completed by someone else and not you.
These assessments need to be completed by someone who knows you well. In your dashboard under 'assessments' (here), scroll down to "External Assessments". You will be prompted to invite someone by email to complete the assessments.
- ASRS-O (ASRS Observer, v0524) - this can be completed by anyone (a good friend, co-worker, family member or partner).
- Verification of Childhood Symptoms (VCS) - this must be completed by someone who has known you since before the age of 13. Completing this assessment is necessary to comply with the eligibility requirements for the Pharmaceutical Benefits System (PBS), where you can receive a subsidy for cheaper medication.
Additional information
- The same person can complete these assessments, as long as that person has known you since before the age of 13
- If you don't have someone who has known you since before the age of 13, you can provide school reports or teacher comments highlighting any relevant issues.
Step 3: Upload Documents
As part of your onboarding process, you'll need to upload a GP referral and lab tests. You can click on 'Documents' at the top of your dashboard and click 'Add Document' on the top right.
Referral Requirements
For a GP referral to be valid, it must include:
- the date of the referral
- your GP's signature
- your GP's provider number or address
Where possible, it'd be great if your referral could include any medical history that may be relevant for your Kantoko ADHD doctor.
We don't require Kantoko to be specifically named for the referral as we accept open referrals. You can pass the below details to your GP, or send them this link: https://www.kantoko.com.au/referral.

Required Tests
We require the following routine tests prior to initiating any medication. These help your ADHD doctor safely monitor any health factors that could be affected by treatment.
We strongly recommend arranging these tests before booking your first appointment. The easiest way to stay on track is to speak with your GP early and get these organised as soon as possible to avoid any delays to receiving your results and uploading them in time.
In the unlikely event your results aren't uploaded before you are expected to initiate medication, we'll need to reschedule your appointment to a later date, which may delay the start of your treatment.
- Blood pressure
- Pulse
- Weight
- ECG, including an image of the graph
-
Blood tests:
- Full Blood Count (FBC)
- Electrolytes, Urea & Creatinine (EUC)
- Liver Function Tests (LFT)
- Thyroid Function Tests (TFT)
- Vitamin B12 and Folate
- Iron studies
These tests are essential for ensuring your ADHD treatment is both safe and effective. Regular monitoring allows us to tailor your care to your needs, minimise risks, and ensure the best possible outcomes for your mental and physical health.
