We prioritise patient safety in ADHD treatment. As part of safe and responsible prescribing, we require certain tests (including blood tests and ECGs) before you get started. This way, your clinician has a detailed medical history prior to assessing you and discussing a treatment plan that is safe and effective for your specific circumstances.
Blood Tests
We require blood tests because they help:
- Assess baseline health before starting ADHD medication.
- Monitor liver, kidney, and cardiovascular function.
- Ensure proper metabolism and dosage.
- Check for nutritional deficiencies that may impact symptoms.
ECGs
ECGs assess heart health before prescribing stimulant ADHD medication. They help:
- Detect pre-existing heart conditions.
- Monitor cardiovascular side effects.
- Assess risk in patients with a family history of heart disease.
If you are being referred by your regular GP, we highly recommend you obtain these tests altogether to save you time. You can send your GP this information to help with the process.
