We’re sorry to hear your medication has been damaged. This article explains what steps to take and what to expect.
❗️Important: As your stimulant medication is a Schedule 8 (controlled) medicine under Australian law, there are strict requirements around prescribing and replacement. Early replacements are usually not possible and must be assessed carefully in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
What to do
What to do
Please follow these steps as soon as possible:
- Take the remaining damaged medication to your local pharmacy and ask the pharmacist to destroy it.
- Obtain a proof of destruction certificate from the pharmacist, noting the approximate amount destroyed.
- Upload the certificate to the Documents section of your Kantoko profile.
- Submit a Medication Refill request via your Kantoko profile. In the Additional Information field, provide a brief summary of the situation for your clinician.
What happens next
Once your documentation has been received and your medication refill request submitted, your clinician will review the situation and determine whether a replacement prescription is appropriate.
Please note: Approval is not guaranteed and must align with state prescribing regulations.
These requirements aren’t about mistrust — they’re part of the legal framework for Schedule 8 medicines in Australia. We will do our very best to support and guide you through the process and ensure the review is handled as carefully and promptly as possible.
